Biei Photo Gallery/ Takushinkan

Biei provides one of the most spectacular and inspiring settings for photography with rolling hills, vibrant colours and seasons which lend themselves to the camera. Maeda Shinzo has been able to capture some of the most beautiful scenes of Biei and has put them together with some of his son’s works to create this large collection.
In summer, the Gallery also has a lavender field and a walking course where you can relax, and enjoy taking in the marvelous area and scenery of Biei after just a little walk.
This is an extremely popular destination for photographers from around Japan.

Access 10km from JR Biei Station / 15 minutes by car, 2 hours by the bike course.
5.6km from JR Bibaushi Station / 1 hour by foot, 30 minutes by bike

There are sightseeing tour buses available in summer. These buses leave from Biei Station.
A tour bus leaves from Furano Station in the morning for a half-day tour in summer.
The New Furano Prince Hotel has a shuttle bus for guests. This bus goes by this gallery, Goto Sumio Museum and some other sightseeing spots.
